Certified Homelessness Advocate (CHA)

The Homeless Advocate Certification Board (HACB), established by The Big Blue Umbrella, is the first of its kind, dedicated to standardizing and improving the quality of services provided by homelessness outreach teams. Our certification ensures that advocates are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ethics to effectively assist those experiencing homelessness.

The primary role of a CHA Outreach Specialist is to:

  • Provide direct support to individuals experiencing homelessness by offering verified resources to help them access supportive, wrap-around services in person in real-time.

Certified Recycling Advocate (CRA)

TheBBU is training a corps of Certified Recycling Advocates (CRAs) who are passionate about the future of our environment and making recycling a more accessible, seamless and rewarding experience. Trained and certified by the Recycling Advocate Certification Board (RACB), with innovative technology and a strong network of Certified Recycling Advocates (CRAs) helping California communities reduce waste and conserve resources while supporting schools and community-based organizations along the way.

Certified Recycling Advocates:

  • Assist in community education programs focused on recycling awareness.
  • Support and participate in local recycling events and initiatives.
  • Conduct basic waste audits to promote household recycling efforts.
  • Provide general recycling information to the public.

EDLT (Commercial Truck Driving School)

The Big Blue Umbrella vocational certificate programs are more than just skills training; they are a reflection of our commitment to empowering individuals and communities. Our philosophy centers on inclusivity, innovation, and impact, aiming to equip participants with the tools they need to thrive. 

TheBBU Entry-Level Driver Training is for provides individuals with theory instruction and behind-the-wheel training–including skills in maneuvering, route planning, and handling various driving conditions, under the guidance of experienced instructors. 

TheBBU’s ELDT vocational program opens doors to lucrative career opportunities in the transportation industry.

Specifically, TheBBU ELDT program exists for individuals obtaining:

  • Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) 

Equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License. 

  • Commercial Truck Driving (NON-CDL) 

Designed for those interested in the transportation industry, TheBBU non-CDL program provides training in driving and safety protocols for vehicles that do not require a CDL. 

NOTE: This program is for individuals obtaining a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for the first time.
